Lawrence Delva-Gonzalez is a seasoned finance professional with a passion for community service and financial literacy. He serves as an auditor in his professional life, but his true passion lies in fostering socio-economic changes for BIPOC communities. He provides financial literacy education through articles, worksheets and speaking engagements.
With over a decade of experience working with schools and organizations, Lawrence has a strong passion for giving back to the community. He believes present actions yield significant future dividends.
Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Lawrence is a proud Haitian-American. He earned his bachelor’s in business management and French at Florida State University, where he also completed his master’s in accounting with a specialization in taxation.
Lawrence’s commitment to education extends beyond his own academic achievements. He has served as the vice president of education for a Virginia chapter of Toastmasters International and currently volunteers as a financial coach for the Prince George’s Community College Center for Financial Empowerment.
He is also the founder of
The Neighborhood Finance Guy, a resource dedicated to providing financial empowerment tips, general tax guidance, and quarterly conference calls for students and young professionals.
Lawrence believes that financial literacy is the civil rights movement of our community. He authored the Net/Max Financial Plan, a step-by-step pathway to financial success, and hopes to improve his community one person at a time.
In addition to his financial and educational endeavors, Lawrence is a decorated veteran Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps, having completed two tours under Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation African Lion. His proudest achievement was volunteering to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina and Rita in rebuilding their city.
