Tori G. Roughley is an editor, storyteller, content strategist and licensed insurance professional who loves both the creative and the analytical. With seven years of content creation and editorial experience, Tori strives to make complex financial topics easily accessible for readers across all communities. From informational guides and marketing materials to data analyses and digital PR stories, Tori has tackled a wide range of projects.

Tori has guided people through the intricacies of the insurance world since 2018. They began their career working directly in the insurance industry at an independent agency, where they designed coverage plans for clients, managed a team of professionals and created marketing and client communication strategies. Tori also gained insight into loans, mortgages and other financial planning processes. They earned their Property and Casualty Insurance License in Michigan in 2021.

Over the past few years, Tori has held two different positions in the financial journalism space: the insurance feature editor at U.S. News & World Report and the deputy insurance editor at CNN Underscored Money. They have covered content spanning all lines of insurance. By using their industry experience to craft engaging, lifelike narratives, Tori aims to immerse readers into the story so they can apply the topics they’re learning about firsthand. 

Tori graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in writing from Grand Valley State University, where they were the editor-in-chief of the Grand Valley Journal of History. They also studied abroad at Edge Hill University in England.
